The project goes beyond the Free Industrial Zone concept; it will include an industrial park, service spaces, offices and a logistics platform. There are plans to later incorporate a commercial area, tourist complexes and residential areas.
Companies established within the Zone will benefit from an incentive fiscal framework defined by law as well as procedures facilitating their exploitation.
It is projected that an average of 400 businesses will be drawn during the first five years and close to 1000 after 20 years, employing about 40 000 wage earners and indirectly creating about 100 000 jobs, ultimately.
The economic zone covers an area of 718 ha and that 12,000 ha are planned as a reserve for the future extension of the site. The pilot phase of the project covers 45 ha.
